Halloween Nails - OPI for Sephora Call Your Mother & Konad

I have got my Mum addicted to the Konad now and she bought the Halloween plate (M13) so obviously I had to steal borrow it tonight to do my nails! I couldn't decide on what image to use and as its only once a year that this plate can be used I thought I would stamp 3 different designs!
I used OPI for Sephora Call Your Mother as the base colour and then stamped Konad special polish in Black Pearl on top.

I want to get the Christmas plate now!

Usa Haul...Unfortunately Without The Holiday!

Unfortunately this USA haul didn't include the trip across the pond but I was still happy with the goodies! One of my close friends just got back from Florida and she kindly agreed to pick up some things from Sephora for me! I didn't go mad, just a few things that are unavailable here in the UK!
I got the Stila Smudge Pot Set, Kat Von D Gypsy Palette and OPI for Sephora Metro Chic and Call Your Mother.

I am in love with the Smudge pots, they are so gorgeous! The black is extremely dark and I used it today and I actually prefer it to my Mac fluidline. Kitten is such a gorgeous Champagne colour, I think this will be great for lazy days on its own with some eyeliner. The other two colours Violet and Starry Night are exclusive to this set, they are both gorgeous sparkly colours and I can see myself using these as bases a lot! If you can pick this up I would highly recommend it! As you can see in the picture they survived a close encounter with a burst can of hairspray!

I was desperate for the Kat Von D Gypsy palette since it was released earlier this year! My friend actually couldn't get it in the first Sephora visit but luckily she went back and they searched the stock room and I got the last one! I have been having a bit of an obsession with greens at the moment so I can't wait to play with this!

The two nail varnishes are ones I always meant to pick up but forgot, expect to see them as nails of the week soon!

I also nipped into Superdrug this week and picked up the Sleek Graphite palette, to be honest I was going to skip this one as I just think there are too many similar colours in it but I fell in love with the two purple shades! I also made the most of the two for £5 on the Barry M Nail Paints and picked up Raspberry and Racing Green.

I am really looking forward to going out for Halloween tomorrow, will hopefully have some pictures for you on Sunday! What are you doing for Halloween?

Cargo Lash Activator End Of Week 8

I am a couple of weeks late posting this, but here are Mum's lashes at the end of the 8 weeks.

I do think there is a noticeable difference in both length and thickness. It's not quite as dramatic as the promo photo but the results do speak for themselves.
I am currently using the L'Oreal Lash Renewal Serum and this mascara combined and I have to say I have noticed a huge difference in my own lashes.
Has anyone else had positive results using this?

Nails Of The Week - OPI Reflecting Pool

Ok I have to say I am in love with this colour! Its a gorgeous blue shimmer polish with gold and blue glitter. It looks blue in some lights and green in others. It's such a beautiful unique colour and I have had so many compliments on it today.

With Flash on the left and without on the right. I know the photo without flash is not in focus but it really shows off the gold shimmer.
This is 3 coats, 2 probably would have been enough but I just wanted to make sure it was even.
I really do recommend this colour, its gorgeous!

My first back 2 Mac, a guilt free haul!!

With all the talk of Mac ending the Back 2 Mac program after Christmas (this may be UK only) I thought I really should make the most of it while I can! I had a mascara and a lipglass that I had finished so I decided to depot some eyeshadows. I had some spare Elf 4 pan palettes that fit Mac shadows and only cost £1.50.
I used the hair straightener method and honestly I found it really easy. I did a lot of research first i.e watched a lot of youtube videos lol! I have to admit some people using huge kitchen knives to pry the pans out started to put me off! But I have a swiss army knife thing that has a small flat blunt attachment on it and it popped them out straight away, I depoted 10 shadows and they all survived without any damage! There is no rule for how long to leave them on the straightener though, some softened enough in a couple of minutes where others took about 5 or 6, you really just have to keep checking.
So I happily went to the Mac counter in Selfridges and got myself two lipsticks!
I picked up Hot Gossip Cremesheen and Captive Satin, I love both of these colours. Hot Gossip is probably as nude as I can go, its almost a MLBB shade as I have quite pigmented lips. I have wanted Captive since I watched Blair's (Juicystar07) fall tutorial video on youtube.
Here are some not great swatches as by the time I get home from work there is no natural light at all.

I have 5 shadows left to depot and a lipglass I am almost finished with so if you have any suggestions on which lipstick I should pick up I would appreciate it!

Nails Of The Week - China Glaze Flying Dragon

This is one of my favourite colours but I hate the finish! It's from the China Glaze Ink Collection which are a range of neon colours. They all have a semi matte finish and because this one has glitters in it can dry really bumpy. It does need at least two coats of a nice shiny top coat to even it out and give it a nice glossy finish!

It also chips really easily as all Mattes seem to do, so it really does all hang on the top coat! This is such a unique colour though that I am willing to put up with it!

Blog Awards and Tag

This week I have been given 3 blog award/tags! I love these and it always makes me smile seeing that I have been tagged!
So first I was nominated by Tacky Blue Eyeshadow and Get Gawjus for the Beautiful/Gorgeous Blogger Award!

For this award you have to list either 7 random facts or 7 helpful things. I will go with the random facts as I haven't done that before. You then have to tag 7 other bloggers and let them know they have been nominated.

1. My makeup obsession only really started last year, I have worn makeup since I was about 15 but happily owned one medium make-up bag filled with drug store products, I started watching Panacea81 on youtube and I went out and bought Mac's Sharkskin shadestick and the obsession began!

2. I hate my hair colour, every hairdresser I ever go to loves it as its a shade that lots of people want but can't get through hair dye but I have always hated it! I used to get teased mercilessly as a child about it! It didn't help that my parents have black & brown hair, there were always lots of jokes about me being the milkmans!

3. I am music obsessed (You probably new that already!) I can happily go without TV as long as I have my ipod/stereo. I go to a ridiculous amount of concerts (I have a list over on the right of bands I have seen so far as well as the amount of times I have seen them!) I have even been to America twice to see the Goo Goo Dolls on New Years Eve.

4. I have 5 tattoos although I have been tattooed 6 times as one was a cover up, they really are an addiction and I am planning my next one.

5. I love photography, my absolute dream job would be a concert photographer, I posted some of my favourite photos I have taken ages ago, if you want to see them click here.

6. I have a phobia of swimming in the sea, there are just too many creatures in there for my liking, paddling is as far as I go.

7.  I used to obsessively straighten my hair, mine is naturally curly and I hated it! I have come to love my curls though and now I look at photos of my flat lifeless straight hair and cringe!!

I tag

Make Up By Caroline
The Gloss Goss

The second tag is the You Make Me Smile Tag which I got from the lovely Lipglossiping, I love this tag!

- You can tag as many people as you like, there is no limit.
- Say at least one thing about each blog you tag, that will make them smile, something nice about their blog that makes you smile when you read it!
The song:

Nails Of The Week - OPI Princesses Rule & Konad

So this week my Konad addiction continues! This is OPI's Princesses Rule which is a very shimmery sheer pink with Konad Special polish in Purple Pearl stamped on top. I really like this combination.

Do you have any Konad plate recommendations? I think I want them all lol!

Etsy Jewellery Purchases

I sold a couple of bits on eBay so had some money in paypal, I remembered awhile back seeing a post on Lipstick & Lightsabers blog about Etsy Jewellery. I have no idea how I found this seller but I am so glad I did. I have a bit of an obsession with tattoos, I have 5 and am planning more and all of her designs are based on traditional tattoos. All of the items are hand painted on acrylic and hang on Silver plated chains. I picked out two necklaces, it was really hard as I could have easily bought another 4 lol! Check out her store here
Here are the two that I picked out

I am absolutely in love with them, the colours are incredible and they are so unusal! They were $21 each and the postage was $4 for the first item and all others ship free, shipping was pretty quick too. I will definately be buying more, she has an awesome vampire necklace on there now!
This was my first etsy purchase and has definately inspired me to look for more unique items on there.

Are there any Etsy sellers you would recommend?

Boots Haul - Urban Decay, Too Faced & Prestige

I wasn't meant to buy anything this week but the 3 for 2 in boots tempted me! I really wanted to pick up the Too Faced Glamour To Go palette after seeing it on Tali's blog a few weeks ago and I also wanted to try Urban Decay lipsticks so took the opportunity to get them a bit cheaper!

I also had a quick look at the prestige stand and noticed the new Shimmering Trios eye shadows. They only had two different sets, one was a golden brown trio and the other one was Emerald which is the one I chose, its contains three colours of a very finely milled shimmery pigment. The colours are gorgeous and very pigmented, I know there are a bigger range of colours available in America so hopefully they will bring them over here soon. These were on offer they will normally be priced at £9.78 but at the moment they are £2 off.
Onto the swatches

Urban Decay Lipsticks: Pistol is a very sheer shimmery berry colour, its gorgeous and one of those shades you can apply without a mirror. Gash is a very pigmented glossy red, looks really nice on. Its a very wearable red. My only gripe with these are the bitter taste! They smell nice and initially don't taste of anything but after an hour or so there is a really bitter taste in the back of the mouth! Its not terrible and something I can live with but it might put me off buying more.

Too Faced Glamour To Go: I love this little palette, the glosses are decently pigmented, usually in palettes when swatched they all look the same but with these you can definitely see the different shades. The eye shadows are all very pigmented and creamy, they blend together really nicely. The blush is also a really wearable peachy pink shade. I do think this is good value for money and is great to just keep in your makeup bag as its so small.

Prestige Shimmering Trios: This was an impulse buy, I have been loving greens lately so as soon as I saw this I had to get it. I love the packaging and the colours are incredibly pigmented and very shimmery. Haven't had a chance to play with this properly yet but will do a full review once I have.
Each colour has a little snap lid as you can see in the picture below, this really minimises on mess!

Have you got anything new this week?

Nars Haul

Since I sold my only Nars eyeshadows in my blog sale my beauty obsessed brain said I was allowed to go and replace them! So I nipped into John Lewis after work on Friday and picked up a couple of duos. I originally intended to only pick up one but the MA said if I bought two items I would get a goody bag so obviously I picked another one! Here is what I picked up
Eyeshadow Duos in Cleo & Habanera, I am honestly in love with both of these, Cleo was the one I originally wanted but I am so glad I was tempted in to picking up Habanera. The purple shade is gorgeous and I can see myself using this all the time! Here are some swatches
In the goody bag I got samples of the Makeup cleansing oil, Brightening Serum, Makeup Primer and a mini lipgloss set. The lipglosses are really tiny there is 2.15ml in each but knowing the rate at which Nars glosses get the plasticine smell that is probably a good thing, I am in love with the colours, they are Supervixen, Female Trouble and Rose Gitane.
What are your favourite Nars products?

Nails Of The Week - Maybelline Cherry & Konad

Here are my nails of this week, its Maybelline Cherry Express Finish which I have to say really surprised me, 1 coat would have been enough but I put on two anyway. It applied really nicely and dried really quickly. I topped it with Konad special polish in Black Pearl and an image from plate M51, this is one of the huge stencils so there was lots of clean up, I used Leighton Dennys crystal finish topcoat. I have had this on for 5 days now and it hasn't chipped! I would normally change my polish tonight but I love this so am going to leave it on for another couple of days, I have had so many people ask me where I got this done, they honestly don't believe me when I say I did it myself!
I really am loving the Konad, it is a bit fiddly and takes a bit of getting used to but as long as you can accept that it is not going to look 100% the same on every nail its great. I can see this becoming a bit of an addiction, I am already searching for more plates on eBay!

Confession time...

I went back to mac, I have absolutely no bloody willpower!!
I picked up Young Punk MES, Night Violet Mattene, Seriously Hip nail varnish and Sculpt & Shape in Bone Beige/Emphasize.
I really did try but my Mum wanted me to go and pick up Blue Flame MES for her as she fell in love with mine and the temptation was just too much!
I watched a tutorial by TiffanyD on youtube using Young Punk and fancied having a go so here is my attempt, I actually really like it and will definitely wear this for a night out.

I used the black Kryolan supracolour as a base, Mac Vex eyeshadow on the inner third, Young Punk used wet on the rest of the lid, Mac Scene eyeshadow blended in the crease, Mac Black Tied eyeshadow in the outer crease.
This is Night Violet Mattene with Date Night Dazzleglass on top, it is actually a bit darker than this as the light has washed it out. I love it, its such a gorgeous colour. It is very dark but you can apply it lightly and smudge it in to get a lighter colour. I have seen people comparing it to Benefits Miss behavin' lipstick, I have this and can honestly say that although in the tube they look similar they look completely different on the lips!

Is anyone else suffering from a lack of willpower or is it just me??

Vampires Rock and FOTD

A couple of weeks ago me and my parents went to see Vampires Rock for the second time, I love this show, its a musical based around a vampire nightclub. It helps that there is plenty of eye candy as you can see from the pictures! The atmosphere at these shows is incredible and the soundtrack is awesome! All the songs are rock covers from the likes of Meatloaf, Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses etc. Steve Steinman the creator of the show and main vampire actually appeared on Stars In Their Eyes as Meatloaf! Toyah has now joined the cast and she looks incredible! If you like rock music and this show is on anywhere near you then I highly recommend going, its such a fun night! Visit the shows website here all of the photos below were taken from there.

A lot of the audience were dressed up in corsets etc and some people had taken make up to the extreme and it looked incredible! I had hardly any time to get ready so quickly put this look together!

On my eyes I used Mac Artifact Paint Pot, Mauvement Pigment on the lid and Sketch in the Crease. I then lined my eyes with Mac Beauty Marked eyeshadow mixed with Illamasqua Sealing Gel. My lipstick has mostly worn off as these photos were taken when I got home but I used Illamasqua's Box Lipstick with Gallactic lipgloss blended on top.

I am really looking forward to Halloween and getting to dress up, all the tutorials on youtube are awesome, can't wait for Pixiwoo's Magenta tutorial as The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of my all time favourites!

It's the time of the month...

that my bank account hates, new Mac collection day, I headed to the counter in Selfridges at lunchtime and honestly I wanted so much! I was very restrained though and only picked up 3 things!
Amorous Dazzleglass Creme, Baby Goth Girl nail varnish and Blue Flame mes
Here are a range of swatches of blue flame with different bases, it really is gorgeous. I wanted all of them but this one was my favourite.
I had no intention of buying any of the Dazzleglass cremes but I had to have this one as soon as I swatched it and saw how pigmented it was! It is actually a bit darker than it looks in this picture as the light has washed it out!
Baby Goth Girl nail varnish is just gorgeous, I don't own anything like it, please excuse the mess as this is pre clean up! I love the name and the colour. It was completely opaque and streak free in two coats and dries to an almost matte finish. I highly recommend this, I am tempted to go back and get the gold/green one!

I had been really looking forward to style black and I wasn't disappointed, I could easily have bought another 5 or 6 things!

What have you picked up from the new collections?
